We are pleased to announce upcoming enhancements that will be released in the Pikmykid Portal starting March 2, 2026.

Latest Updates: March 10, 2026

  • We’ve extended the login activity window from 7 days to 14+ days. Users who have not accessed the portal for 14 or more consecutive days will be required to verify their identify through the OTP process upon their next login. * Please note: If a user has been inactive for 30+ days, the system will prompt the user to reset their password upon the next login.

Latest Updates: March 4, 2026

  • The secure session window has been updated from 30 minutes to 2 hours – during this time, staff can make any changes before a re-verification is required. Please note: logging out of the portal or closing the browser, will end the secure session.
  • Staff users with access to multiple school locations can now switch between portals without being required to verify through an OTP.

Enhancement Update: Strengthening Access for the Modern K-12 School Portal

As K-12 schools continue to expand digital engagement  from daily communications to student coordination, secure access has never been more important. School portals are no longer static systems; they are active hubs supporting staff collaboration, parent communication, and operational workflows.

To support this growth, we’ve introduced an enhanced verification layer designed to strengthen access controls while keeping everyday tasks seamless for authorized users.

What’s New?

The following actions now require a One-Time Passcode (OTP) sent to the user’s verified email address:

  • Add Staff Member
  • Edit Staff Member
  • First-Time Login
  • Login after 14+ days of inactivity
  • Add a New Student or Edit a Student’s Individual Profile
  • Add Contact
  • Send Email
  • Send Push Notification
  • Generate Parent Connection Code
  • Print Car Tags
  • Emergency Management Settings and Features
  • Emergency Reunification Plans

Note: If a user account is inactive for over 30 days, the system will require a reset of the password.

How It Works

  • When performing any of the actions above, users will receive a verification code via email.
  • After entering the code successfully, they will have a 2 hour secure session window before re-verification is required.

This ensures strong protection without interrupting normal workflows.

Why This Matters

These enhancements:

  • Add an extra layer of security for student and staff information
  • Strengthen compliance alignment with district cybersecurity policies
  • Ensure sensitive actions (like messaging and student data updates) are verified and intentional
  • Protect against unauthorized access
  • Prevent automated or bot-based misuse

This update provides stronger security while keeping workflows efficient for authorized users.
