Coming up with activities for your kids to do during their fall breaks from school can be difficult. If you’re a parent you hardly have time to play event planner. Luckily we’ve come up with a few ideas you can quickly pull together for those fall days off of school!

Pumpkin Patches & Hay Rides

A fall classic! Just because Halloween is over, doesn’t mean the pumpkin picking season is. Many pumpkin patches host nightly hay rides, apple picking, and corn mazes that run throughout the fall season. This is also a great opportunity to get some cute family pictures together, and have the kids run around to get some energy out.

Have an indoor craft day

Just because the weather outside is turning chilly, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy fall from the comfort of your own home. Set out to spend the day making crafts and doing art projects! It’s a great way to keep those creative muscles sharp while on break from school. We like this leaf suncatcher¬†or this hanging turkey windstock to keep your busy for a full day of fall fun, and give you some festive artwork to display around the home!

Bake some tasty treats

Who doesn’t love coming home to the smell of baked goods coming out of the oven? When I was a kid, nothing was better than my mom and her friends coming over for one of her baking days. We would spend the entire day concocting different recipe combinations and flavors of pies, cookies, and cupcakes. Check out a great list of recipes to get you started here. End up with too many baked goods? If you’re feeling generous I’m sure a pumpkin spice or gingerbread treat would make a great offering to family, neighbors, and friends. It might get a little messy to get the kids involved, but it sure is worth it.

Fall Fairs

Check out the events happening around you. Does your town host fall festivals, markets, or fairs? These can be great fun for kids of all ages with rides, games, face painting, and more! If your town doesn’t have one, get with a group of parents or your child’s school and host your own get together! It’s a great way to meet other families, have the kids play together, and make new fall memories.

Gather round the campfire

Fall is the perfect time to pitch a tent in the backyard (or even inside!). If you have the space and resources, a bon fire (attended by a trustworthy adult) is also an exciting addition to any camping night. Get out your s’more making skills and start up an assembly line full of marshmallow and chocolatey goodness.

Let us know how you’ll be spending those precious days off with the family. Happy autumn everyone!
