It’s that time of year again!

The leaves are changing colors, the weather is getting cooler, the campfires are crackling, and the fun fall crafts have made their way back to the store aisles and onto every website. Here are some simple, but awesome crafts to do with your children this fall!

Pumpkin decorating

Of course, this one is obvious, but if you aren’t a big fan of gutting a pumpkin or you aren’t artistically inclined with painting, stores have some fantastic sticker kits. I just picked up two last night from Target for only $5 each.

Leaf People

For those of you who have younger children, I found this craft to be utterly adorable and so unique because no leaf person will be the same! Just go outdoors with your little ones for a walk and search for the leaves you find the best. Find leaves of all different sizes, shapes, and colors. Make sure to bring a bag to put them in. When you get home, put your leaves on a table to easily see and give your children some paper, glue, markers, and (if you want) googly eyes. Next just glue the leaves in the shapes of people. Check out this website for some great examples of leaf people.

Pine Cone Bird Feeders

Pinecone bird feeder

For this craft, all you need are pine cones, peanut butter, some twine, and bird seed.

First, cut enough twine to tie around the top of the pine cone and hang from your desired branch. Measure accordingly.

Second, tie the twine around the top of the pine cone. You should do this first rather than last to avoid a mess.

Third, Using a spatula or knife spread the peanut butter over the cone. It’s recommended that you put the peanut butter on the knife or spatula and allow the children to spread. Peanut butter will spread easily on the cone, so you do not need to give a bunch at one time.

Fourth, Pour birdseed into a bowl wide enough for a pine cone to fit into and roll it around until bird seed is stuck onto all the peanut butter.

Fifth, hang it up and watch the birds come and enjoy their treats!
