My name is Jarvis Thompson, I have spent years as a firefighter protecting our federal land and working with schools all across the country to help adopt new safety technology in schools.

One of the major problems that admins have with introducing new technology in schools is the amount of work it takes to get everything up and running. From training to adopting new methods of teaching, reporting or evaluating, it can sometimes feel like walking in the middle of a busy intersection, but with a few simple steps, you can learn how to manage!

Here’s some tips to remember if you have decided to adopt new technology for your school:

  1. Start off slow. There’s no rush! Technology in schools isn’t going anywhere and is constantly improving! Training teachers is essential if you want to have a successful introduction of technology in the classroom.
  2. Everyone has different perceptions of how learning should be handled at schools especially with technology in schools. Make sure you create a shared vision. Don’t just see this as a personal endeavor, but a community creating the future for a large group of people.
  3. Make sure you have a team of devoted staff behind the product. Even just one or two dedicated team members championing a technology change can make a difference.
  4. Don’t overthink the process. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. As providers of software and services to our schools, we are always there to help. We always try to demystify technology in schools.

At the end of the day every school is different. At PikMyKid we’ve worked with every type of community to successfully launch our dismissal technology.
